This excursion will give you the chance to discover the true essence of Naples, its most folkloristic and ancient side. You will savor the unique atmosphere of Naples’ historic centre, which is characterised by its typical small shops, local artisans, ancient churches and museums.
WALKING IN THE HISTORICAL CITY CENTER
The afternoon will be dedicated to visiting the most ancient and characteristic part of the city, built on the ruins of the Greek and Roman cities (with several ancient monuments engulfed in the new buildings). The main streets are the old decumani streets. Some stops at prominent sites are planned.
SANTA CHIARA CLOISTER
You will explore the Santa Chiara Cloister, a 17th-century architectural gem. The Cloister is made up of 72 octagonal columns, covered in hand-painted tiles. Every single tile is unique, with eye-catching blue and gold flowers, and lush vines climbing the pillars. Inside this wonderful monumental complex you can also visit a museum, which contains artworks, manuscripts, and a central garden, surrounded by centuries-old trees and plants.
SAN LORENZO MAGGIORE EXCAVATIONS
You will have the chance to visit the ancient Naples, exploring an extensive archaeological area which reveals structures such as markets and streets. Above the excavations stands the elegant medieval basilica of San Lorenzo, with artworks that narrate the city’s history.

Le soiree
A cocktail will welcome all the participants to relax and refresh after the excursion. Then, a concert of “Chitarra e Mandolino” will introduce you in the origins of two typical instruments of the Neapolitan musical culture.
The “duo” composed by Lorenzo Marrone (guitar) and Mattia Raimo (mandolin), both musicians graduated from the prestigious San Pietro a Maiella Conservatory of Music in Naples, will play pieces composed by authors of the classical and traditional music (R. Calace, N. Paganini, E. Di Capua, S. Gambardella) to recreate the atmosphere of a Neapolitan parlour of ‘800 and ‘900.
A full-menu dinner completes the day.
